This series of 10-inch square material studies draws from a 1-mile square plot of forest around Cold Creek, an area severely impacted by the 2023 Lookout Fire in Oregon’s Western Cascades. Made from various materials including charcoal collected on-site, blown and cast glass, wood-fired ceramic, plaster and wood, the series questions whether elements of the site’s topography contributed to the severity of its fire impacts.
