Elizabeth Bernays

Elizabeth Bernays (1940 – 2024) was a biologist-turned-writer and taught at UC Berkeley before becoming Regents Professor of Entomology at the University of Arizona. After growing up in Australia, she received her PhD in 1970 at the University of London, England, and led her distinguished career as an academic entomologist before earning an MFA at the University of Arizona. Bernays published more than 200 scientific papers, poems, essays, and books, including two memoirs.
